The network architect role will be primarily responsible for delivering high- and low-level designs, as well as facilitating architectural best practices and offering guidance to networking consultants and implementation engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
The candidate should have experience in designing and deploying Juniper networking solutions across Campus based environments, including integration with NAC and DDI solutions, perimeter security, automation services, and monitoring and management toolsets.
The role is based within Roc’s professional services division, however there will be an expectation for the candidate to work with the Operational team to effectively transition projects in to support, as well as to support the pre-sales function with SME input regarding networking opportunities.
While there will be opportunities to work across Roc’s varied customer base, the initial programme of works the candidate will work on will be a Higher Education Network Transformation based in the Northeast of England.
Responsible for the architectural planning and approach of networking delivery.
Creation of High- and Low-level designs in accordance with customer requirements, Roc capabilities, and architectural best practice.
Support pre-sales and practice lead in development of technology and sector-based propositions.
SME input into tender responses and statements of work – with the requirement to review and write content as needed.
Ensuring a consistent billable utilisation of 75%, escalating to the Networking Practice Lead when this is not the case, and identifying billable activity to increase utilisation.
Responsible for maintaining own industry knowledge and utilising this to implement best of breed networking solutions and suggest growth areas for Roc.
Work within multi-disciplinary teams, including Programme and Project Managers, Service Managers, Operational and Project engineers, as well as external stakeholders to achieve delivery outcomes and maintain high customer satisfaction.
Lead technical discussions with customers, presenting designs, test plans, and other artefacts to ensure stakeholder understanding and approval.
Input into project reporting, including board and status reports to ensure an aligned message to the customer.
Proactively raise risks, issues, and dependencies which may impact project delivery and completion to the project manager and appropriate internal stakeholders.
Experience in design and implementation of Juniper networking transformations, including wireless and LAN.
Experience supporting delivery and service engineers during project implementations, ensuring adherence to architectural design and best practice.
Leading on technical delivery of multi-vendor solutions across Campus based environments.
Up to date accreditation as Juniper switching, and MIST-AI to specialist level.
Working in-depth understanding of NAC platforms and workflows.
Up to date accreditation as Aruba switching, and ClearPass to practitioner level.
Experience working with Fortinet firewalls in a network transformation programme.
Experience of writing technical responses and presenting solutions as part of competitive tender processes.
Experience working with Infoblox DDI solutions.
Ability to work within a cross-functional team.
Able to present confidently to senior internal and external (customer) stakeholders.
Analytical, creative thinker with the ability to create bespoke solutions and resolutions in line with Roc’s core capabilities and business goals.

10+ years’ experience in Wireless and LAN technology implementation and design.
Experience engaging with senior customers and internal directors.
Experience defining and aligning architectural roadmaps and strategies to customer requirements and success criteria.
