The network consultant role, will be primarily responsible for supporting the delivery of low level designs, and leading implementation and testing phases of network transformation projects.
The candidate should have experience in designing and deploying Juniper networking solutions across campus-based environments, ideally using a campus fabric model, as well as working knowledge of NAC solutions, perimeter security, and monitoring and management toolsets.
The role is based within Roc’s professional services division, however there will be opportunity for the candidate to work with the Operational team in order to effectively transition projects in to support.
While there will be opportunities to work across Roc’s varied customer base, the initial programme of works the candidate will work on will be a Higher Education Network Transformation based in the North East.
Input into implementation and deployment planning
Creation of solution and component-based test strategies and test scripts
Review and contribution to Low level designs in accordance with customer requirements
Ensuring a consistent billable utilisation of 75%, escalating to the Networking Practice Lead when this is not the case, and identifying billable activity to increase utilisation
Responsible for maintaining own industry knowledge and utilising this to implement best of breed networking solutions and suggest growth areas for Roc
Work within multi-disciplinary teams, including Programme and Project Managers, Service Managers, Operational and Project engineers, as well as external stakeholders to achieve delivery outcomes and maintain high customer satisfaction
Input into technical discussions with customers, presenting designs, test plans, and other artefacts to ensure stakeholder understanding and approval
Input into project reporting, including status reports to ensure an aligned message to the customer
Proactively raise risks, issues, and dependencies which may impact project delivery and completion to the project manager and appropriate internal stakeholders
Complete pre-staging and testing of network components in line with the project scope
Support implementation engineers during the deployment phase, aligning to best practices and ensuring design adherence
Complete ‘as is’ documentation to aid knowledge transfer and handover into Operational support
Experience in design and implementation of Juniper networking transformations, including wireless and LAN
Experience in deploying networking equipment across campus-based environments
Experience in delivery of HPE Aruba ClearPass
Up to date accreditations in Juniper technologies
Experience in transitioning a networking transformation from project into operational support
Knowledge of technical change control processes, writing and presenting technical changes for approval
Up to date accreditation in Juniper switching and Mist, to specialist level
Up to date accreditation in Aruba ClearPass to professional level
Experience working with Fortinet firewalls in a network transformation programme
Experience of writing High and Low level designs for customer consumption
Experience working with Infoblox DDI solutions
A working understanding of DNS and DHCP protocols
Ability to work within a cross-functional team.
Able to communicate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders when necessary
Analytical, creative thinker with the ability to re-prioritise and identify appropriate workarounds during delivery
Able to identify delivery risks, issues, and dependencies and communicate these to appropriate internal stakeholders, including the Project Manager
Pro-actively seek learning opportunities for themselves and the engineers within the networking practice
Confident in advising junior engineers on technical delivery and implementation approach
5+ years’ experience in Wireless and LAN technology implementation and design
Experience engaging with customers and internal stakeholders to management level
