Role Summary

The purpose of the Finance Manager is to be responsible and own the processes of the 4 areas for finance operations;

  • Accounts payable

  • Collections

  • Billing

  • Sales order processing

The Finance Manager’s objective is to improve internal controls of day-to-day operations in finance to support the key stakeholders. The individual will work closely with the Reporting Manager to ensure real time analytics and understanding of the order to cash cycle.

The Finance Manager will work closely with the financial and commercial accounting managers to ensure end to end impact of finance transactions is accurate and complete. It is imperative that you are a team player, support your colleagues and ensure effective collaboration from yourself and your team. This is fundamental in presenting a competent and slick order to cash process to the business as well as an audit ready finance function.

The individual will provide weekly and monthly reporting to the FD and other leadership team members to help effectively manage the business.

The number one objective of the Finance Manager is to make transacting with finance for all stakeholders easy through the continuous review and improvement of processes.

The day-to-day responsibilities will involve but are not limited to; managing a medium sized team and always ensure they feel fully supported; analytical reporting on the order to cash cycle; cashflow forecasting; control account reconciliations; system administration; ad-hoc projects and requests as and when they come up, including providing cover for payroll, collation of key monthly payroll data for submission to the external payroll provider.

The suitable candidate should be confident with the ability to finish work to an excellent standard, a team player and be used to working in a busy and fast changing environment and have a pro-active and hardworking attitude.

The role would be suitable for someone with excellent attention to detail, with a can-do attitude and a drive to add value and continuously looking for smarter ways of working to optimise efficiencies. This is a fixed term contract lasting 10 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cashflow management

  • Be responsible and own the day-to-day operational processes of finance

  • Complete meaningful and insightful reporting on the order to cash cycle

  • System administrator for finance systems, Netsuite, Egencia, Webexpenses

  • Month end system close & reporting

  • Bank reconciliations & invoice approvals

  • Support and advise on queries

  • Weekly hardware analysis of invoicing and goods in vs sales in

  • Be able to accurately deal with inter-company transactions and journals across the entities

  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and audit

  • Other ad-hoc reporting for the Finance Director as and when required

  • Day to day management of bank admin and bank payment approvals

  • Day to day management of credit card accounts

  • Starters/leavers update

  • Finance inductions

  • Intermediary reporting

  • Payroll cover

Knowledge, Skills, Attributes and Experience

Essential
  • Clear understanding and proven working experience of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet

  • Clear understanding of the order to cash cycle and a thorough understanding of implications around the business

  • Good knowledge of general accounting procedures

  • Excellent Excel skills (pivots, formulas, large data analytics)

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Excellent ability to prioritise and intervene with others when priorities are not being met

  • Excellent communication skills to multiple levels of stakeholders

  • Understanding of variance analysis (actuals vs forecast vs budget)

Desirable
  • Experience using Oracle NetSuite desirable but not essential.

  • Experience using Hubspot desirable but not essential.

  • Part qualified or QBE

  • Experience in moving finance systems

  • Payroll experience, including timesheet admin, overtime, commissions, starters & leavers

Experience & Attainment

  • Proven experience as a manager of more than one area of finance
